▼ Should I choose corded or cordless grooming clippers?
Most corded multi speed clippers are going to have faster spm (powerful). They will run quieter and are lighter in weight than cordless clippers. They can handle every variety of coat and difficulty level with less hand fatigue.
Cordless clippers are great for flexibility in moving around the dog or the salon without a cord. They are ideal for working in mobile salons or house call grooming where cords can be an issue. They are powerful enough to accomplish most grooming tasks. You also reduce liability of tripping hazards with cordless.
▼ How many different clippers do I need for pet grooming?
You only need one multi speed clipper to do every average job you will need it to do. However you will need multiple blades in varying lengths or attachment combs depending on what cut you are doing.
Or you can have one multi-speed for your body clipping and an adjustable blade trimmer. They are ideal for getting into small areas easier and they are lighter and quieter for hard to reach spots.
▼ Are dog clippers different from hair clippers?
The basic design of clippers are the same from people to animals. However they are different in the motors. For pets the motors are made for various purposes, some are for light detail work and others are very powerful for very challenging grooming jobs. Clippers made for people are just not strong enough to groom pets.
▼ Which grooming clippers are the quietest?
All clippers make noise because they have a motor with moving parts, but some are designed to be quieter than others. All of the detail trimmers run extremely quiet because they have a smaller motor for light grooming work. The full size clippers are more powerful to handle all jobs so they are going to run louder. Corded full size clippers are quieter than full size cordless because they are powered through electricity not battery.
